Non Surgical Hair Replacement Therapy for Men

 

The surgical methods of hair replacement have been very common, however, non-surgical methods are also becoming popular. These are the 2 available solutions for dealing with hair loss.

Non-surgical methods base on the use of medications such as Finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine). But first of all, these methods include the physical means of increasing hair on a person’s head. The drugs that normally go along with the process do more to prevent hair loss rather than restore hair growth. The physical means is more relevant in the process.

In this method, a hair system is attached to growing hair on a person’s head. By attaching it, a real-like appearance is made possible. Furthermore, it is secure as it is literally glued to growing hair using surgical glue. Next, the hair is trimmed or cut so that it fits in with the original hair.

A natural look remains thanks to using human hair and coloring it properly. This method is not as expensive as the surgical method and there is no risk of infections. Moreover, the non-surgical method is believed not to require such maintenance as surgical replacements. Hence, it is cheaper. Furthermore, a person even doesn’t have to have hair cuts.

The replacement through non-surgical method is not living hair, therefore it doesn’t require the attention that living hair does.

However, there is also a disadvantage of non-surgical hair replacements. If the hair is cut improperly, a person must live with it until it is replaced; living hair can grow out of a bad hair cut very quickly.

Apart from the method described above, there is also therapy that uses Finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine). The restoration power of these medications may not be as effective as expected but hair retention qualities encourage to use them.

Finasteride, known as Propecia, is produced by Merck and Company. It is an FDA approved medication used to treat male baldness. It is the first medicinal treatment for hair loss having the form of a pill.

According to research, Propecia has been successful in 83% of men. Clinical examinations proved that after using Propecia for a year more hair grows.

It works by inhibiting an enzyme known as 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme is responsible for the production of dihydro-testosterone (DHT) using up testosterone. DHT is responsible for the baldness that most men face, decreasing 2/3 of growing hair to bald scalp. Propecia is a prescription drug.

Minoxidil (Rogaine) is another medication used to curtail hair loss. It is produced by Upjohn. It is a topical solution, employed by hand. It must be applied to the areas of the scalp without hair of with less hair.

Sometimes, when the dosage is reduced to half, hair loss results. It is not recommended to stop the treatment as a person may lose a great deal of hair. But if a patient continues the treatment, improvement should occur within 3 to 6 weeks. Sometimes, however, it may last 4 to 12 months to witness anything positive.
